  1. Indian Prime Minister launched the Kisan Suryodaya Yojana in Gujarat. 
  2. Under the scheme, 16 hours of power supply shall be provided to farmers.

Key Point

  1. Objective: To provide day-time power supply for irrigation. 
  2. Under this scheme, farmers will be able to avail power supply from 5 AM to 9 PM.
  3. The state government has allocated a budget of Rs.3500 crore for installing transmission infrastructure under this scheme by 2023.
  4. 234 ‘66-Kilowatt’ transmission lines will be established under the project, in addition to 220 KV substations.
  5. Districts to be covered in initial phase: Dahod, Patan, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Chhota Udepur, Kheda, Tapi, Valsad, Anand and Gir-Somnath have been 
  6. The remaining districts will be covered in a phase-wise manner by 2022-23.

  • These are flowering plants that grow submerged in shallow marine waters like bays and lagoons.
  • These have tiny flowers and strap-like or oval leaves.
  • Seagrasses evolved from terrestrial plants that recolonised the ocean around 70-100 million years ago.
  • Seagrasses also produce food by photosynthesis 
  • They reproduce sexually as well as asexually.
  • Some of the important seagrasses: 
    • Sea Cow Grass (Cymodocea serrulata)
    • Thready Seagrass (Cymodocea rotundata)
    • Needle Seagrass (Syringodium isoetifolium)
    • Flat-tipped Seagrass (Halodule uninervis), etc.
